At Trudi Scrumptious Photography, you will find beautiful, artistic, & totally unique, maternity, newborn, baby, children's, family, portrait and wedding photography. Based in Edinburgh, I cover the Edinburgh and Lothians area and do studio, at home and on location shoots. My name is Trudi Butler and I am passionate about photography, and being a family, portrait and wedding photographer is a dream job for me.

There is nothing I love more than those moments when I can capture something really wonderful for my clients. When I see a moment in time, catch it before it passes, so it can be looked at now and for generations. About Trudi Scrumptious Photography

I have worked with children all my life and previous to becoming a professional photographer I ran a parent coaching business for 9 years, so I really know babies, children, and their families. I can get the best from children and know exactly how to soothe babies when clients come for their newborn photography or children's photography session. I also love portrait photography and am also branching out into weddings, so do get in touch to discuss if you need a wedding photographer.

The Scrumptious Studio

In my studio in the Trinity area of Edinburgh I have several backdrops not just the usual white, although I do have a full length White backdrop if that is the look clients want. I also provide beautiful coloured and patterned backdrops which are often more flattering and also fun and attractive. I also use wood flooring effect and skirting in wood and White wood to create the look of a freshly wallpapered room. I provide beautiful props such as hats, hairbands, baskets, bowls and pots for babies and newborns and also have an array of stunning blankets. For babies and children I have props such as vintage toys to play with and chairs, crates and benches to sit on. Family and portrait photography can also utilise the seats and backdrops to gorgeous effect.

Maternity Photography

Your pregnant tummy is beautiful and I love to photograph women and partners when they are expecting the arrival of a gorgeous little bundle. This time in your life will never be here again and it is a time to celebrate. I use some gorgeous light to show your shape in the most flattering way and make you see how beautiful you are. If you bring your partner along, I will incorporate some lovely poses which show the love you already have for your cherished unborn child. Don't hesitate, book today as the best time to get your maternity photographs taken are in the 7th month.

Newborn

Newborn photography is no longer just about the hospital photographer taking a couple of shots of your baby in their hospital cot and giving you a couple of unprocessed photographs in a cardboard frame. Now newborns are photographed in the most stunningly artistic and adorable ways. I can capture the cuteness you see in all its beauty and I provide the most skilled post processing to my newborn shots so that the perfection of every little newborn is there captured forever for you to share with your loved ones and friends. I use different backdrops and blankets and use a shallow depth of field to give that gorgeous focus just on baby and the backgrounds melt away so your eye is drawn to baby. I have worked with babies and children all my life so I know exactly how to take the very best of care of your tiny bundle and safety is always on the top of my mind. I soothe and care for babies whilst I photograph them and if you come to me in the first 2 weeks of your baby's life, they should be lovely and sleepy for the shoot. The room is kept very warm so babies are comfortable and cosy. Baby

I adore babies and getting to photograph them is pure pleasure to me. I love to capture the laughter, the tears, the frowns, the concentration, not just the perfect smile, although if I get some of them, that's great! Having worked with children all my life in childcare and for 9 years as a parent coach, I know how to bring out the best in your baby. I have some vintage style toys for your baby to play with and if they are just sitting up, some beautiful baskets to sit in, which make some charming images. If you prefer the classic studio clean crisp images of the high key white background I have a full length white backdrop, but if you prefer something a little different I have other plain coloured and some patterned wallpaper style backdrops which look gorgeous with the wooden flooring and natural wood or white skirting. If you are after some baby photographs which are a little different, then I can give you just that. For babies, at home photo shoots also work well so if you are in or around the Edinburgh and The Lothians area, do get in touch.

Children

Whether you are looking for at home, on location or in studio children's photography, you can't go wrong with Trudi Scrumptious Photography. Having worked with children all my life and having two of my own, photographing them professionally is so fun. I work with you to find out about your child's personality, their favourite toys and pastimes. I can often incorporate that into their photographs. I have a lovely car mat and some vintage style cars, and some cute modern ones too, and I have some lovely dolls, teddies, tea sets and other toys and props and often have some little cakes and treats too, which all help to keep your child happy and in one spot (well most of the time) while I click away capturing their fun expressions. The serious expressions are great too and make some very powerful images.

Family

Having family portraits taken is usually something you don't do very often so you want to make sure you pick the right photographer. If you are after the kind of sharp high key white background images you've seen in shopping centres, I can do that for you in my home studio as I have a full length white vinyl background and great lighting. If you prefer something a little different I have some different coloured backdrops and some patterned wallpaper style backdrops which look great with the wood flooring and white or natural wood skirtings. You can bring your own props which mean something to you or I have lots at my studio and can bring them along for home shoots too. If you are looking for a certain something I can source that for you too. I tailor my photography to you yet still stay true to my own style.

Portrait

For my portrait photography I try to make my client feel at ease and because my studio is at my home, clients tend to feel relaxed and at home. I offer cups of tea and cold drinks too of course! I want my clients to feel at ease and with my gentle direction about posing and encouraging words I hope the shoot to be a fun and enjoyable experience. Your photographs will be lovingly and gently processed to bring out the absolute best in them but will remain true to you and very natural.
