Borders Tour Full Day (8 Hours)
A little about the tour:
The
drive to the borders is scenic and delightful, as we
take you through some charming wee villages. Melrose
Abbey is home to the heart of Robert the Bruce, the
great Scottish King.
Next Abbotsford House is the house built and lived
in by Sir Walter Scott, the 19th century novelist, and
author of timeless classics such as Waverley, Rob Roy,
Ivanhoe and The Lady of the Lake. Along the route, in
the picturesque country town of Kelso lies another of
the Borders four Abbeys. Kelso Abbey was founded in
1128 and like others suffered in the Border war. Even
in ruins; their magnificent architecture bears witness
to their spiritual and political power.
The jewel in Kelso's crown is perhaps the French-style
cobbled square. Situated around The Square is a selection
of fine retail outlets, both national and privately
owned, where any visitor could buy the perfect gift
for their loved ones back home.
